We have been looking for a larger pony for some of our heavier riders and The Royal Warrant Holders Association have very kindly granted us £3,000 towards the cost. Our ponies need a very special temperament to bear our disabled riders, and the right pony is very hard to find. This donation is particularly valuable as we now have the certainty of some of the funds being immediately available.
One of our Trustees, Katie Giddings, whose husband’s company Milborrow Chimney Sweeps holds a Royal Warrant, put us forward for this grant. We are very grateful to both her, and the RWHA for the donation. All we have to do now is find the right pony!
The Dormansland Horse and Dog Show have been long term supporters and we are very grateful to them. We had a stand this year and met lots of friends, old and new. It was a lovely hot sunny day and the show was a great success, with lots of competitors, both equine and canine (with their riders and handlers. We particularly enjoyed the family atmosphere of the show.
We currently have vacancies for riding sessions for small groups of children with learning or physical disabilities. We normally take six children at a time, on weekdays during term time. Please get in touch with us via the contact form on the webpage if you would like to find out more.
Our good friends at the MG Car Club Sussex Wanderers have given us a fantastic donation of £2,300 raised from collections at their meetings during 2022. Each month they set off on a jolly in their wonderful cars, ending up with a lunch at a pub, where the hat is passed round. The members are very generous and we are very grateful to them.
On 2nd February Ursula Griffiths came to watch a lesson with some of the members and their cars, and to hand over the cheque. (Yes we know the one in the middle isn’t an MG – it sneaked in!)
