Events

East Park RDA receives no government funding and relies on the generosity of individuals, businesses and charitable trusts to fund our activities. Each school pays a fee for the riding session, but this does not cover the costs and in addition, the group’s annual running costs such as insurance, vets fees etc. have to be paid. We aim to make up the annual shortfall by holding fundraising events and obtaining donations and sponsorship.

Upcoming Events

Our volunteers will be judging at the Horley Lions Horse Show at the Felbridge Showground on 28th May.  The Lions are always most generous with a donation to our funds.

We are entering six riders for the RDA Regional Championships on June 6th at the Felbridge Showground hoping to qualify for the National Championships.  Spectators welcome.

The annual East Grinstead Lions Donkey Derby takes place on July 23rd this year at St George’s Field, East Grinstead.  The Pony Club from Little Brook Equestrian provides the jockeys for the donkeys each year, and the East Grinstead Lions make an annual donation to us.  It’s a great day out.

Recent Events

Our volunteers helped out at the Blindley Heath Heavy Horse and Country Show on 30th April and 1st May at East Bysshe Showground.

On Easter Monday, 17th April, 2017, we took part in the London Harness Horse Parade at the South of England Showground, Ardingly.  We took our driving pony, Coke, and the Fenix carriage, driven by our Driving Coach Steve Dale.  Sally O’Neill got a new hat and was the passenger and Annie O’Neill-China will be the groom.  We won the best newcomer and a First Class award as well as two other rosettes.

Lingfield Park Racecourse kindly gave us the opportunity to fund raise at their Race Day on Good Friday, 14th April, 2017.  The racegoers dug deep and a tremendous £1335 was raised.

Our Latin Dinner Dance at the Copthorne Gatwick Hotel on Saturday 12th March raised £1005, which was match funded by Barclays Bank with an extra £1000 to make a grand total of £2005.00!  A fantastic amount.  Our thanks go to the Copthorne Hotel, Horsham Salsa, and all those who donated their time, help and raffle prizes.

The Bucket Collection at the Edenbridge & Oxted Show on Bank Holiday Monday was very wet again, but this year we were joined by Dame Judi Dench.  Her presence encouraged people to be generous and a total of £512 was raised.
