What a fantastic year!

East Grinstead Lions have given us £500 from the proceeds of their Donkey Derby, where Little Brook Equestrian’s Pony Club provided the jockeys and the Shire Horse show gave us £250 for helping out.

One of our volunteers, Jon Day, has given us £1,000 and some items of furniture for our new stable building.

The Blatchington Court Trust has made a donation of £2,000 to fund the first two years of an additional lesson each week for St Stephen’s School.

Southern Sheeting Supplies have donated £300 towards our general costs as have the Sussex Wanderers MG Car Club.

Gatwick Airport have donated some items of furniture and equipment for the new stable building.

We are enormously grateful to all these people and organisations who help us to continue our riding sessions for our disabled young people.

We have had amazing support this year with several grants and donations.

Surrey Community Foundation granted us £2,000 from the  Peter Harrison Foundation to complete the building of our new stable block.

Horley Lions have given us £1,000 from the proceeds of their Horse Show, where we help provide the judges.  C Brewer & Sons Trust gave us £500 as did the Tobacco Pipe Makers and Tobacco Trade Benevolent Fund.

Our patron Dame Judi made a generous donation to our funds.

Most excitingly the Incorporated Church Institute (Upper Tooting) has given us £20,000 to start Carriage Driving within the Group.  This will enable us to buy  both a driving pony and a carriage, and we hope eventually to build a driving track around one of the fields at Little Brook.

Some of these donations come from people who have first-hand knowledge or our work through family or friends who ride with us.  We always say “You only have to see the pleasure the children get out of riding to be convinced of its benefits”.

Surprise, Surprise!

Our Chief Instructor Sally O’Neill was bowled over last week when Brian Richens, (on the left of the photo), President of the East Grinstead Lions Club, arrived at Little Brook Equestrian to donate a cheque for £500 from the proceeds of their Donkey Derby earlier in the year. As last year, Little Brook Equestrian’s Pony Club provided the jockeys for the event. The Jockeys lay in wait for Sally and were thrilled to present their much loved Instructor with the cheque.
