Santander comes up trumps again!

The Santander Foundation have once again dug deep in their pockets to enable us to buy a new pony.  After the loss of one of our ponies, Merlin, last year, we had carried on by using Little Brook’s own ponies, particularly a lovely old boy aged about 26 years called Chippie.  Sadly, Chippie was unwell through much of the winter, and in the middle of February, Sally O’Neill, who owns Little Brook, made the sad decision to have him put to sleep.  He was a marvellous RDA pony, very much loved by our riders, helpers, and Little Brook’s own clients.  This left us very short of suitable ponies to continue our rides, and when Sally heard of an available pony, with RDA history, we jumped at the chance to buy her.  We immediately applied to the Santander Foundation for the £1,000 we needed and they kindly confirmed within two weeks that they would grant us the necessary funds so our lessons could continue.

So please welcome Sparky to the East Park RDA fold.  Sparky is a 14.1 hands strawberry roan mare, about 15 to 16 years old.  She has come from a small private yard and has RDA experience.  Although the larger yard at Little Brook must be very different for her she has taken it all in her stride.  Sally’s daughter Annie has ridden her, and says she is kind, placid and polite!  She is also a real beauty – a very pale roan with ginger insides to her ears.

Once again we are indebted to the Santander Foundation, who a couple of years ago granted us £4,000 to buy Archie, a larger pony for our heavier riders.  Thank you, Santander!
