Easter Monday Triumph

April 21, 2017 at 3:09 pm

On a dry but chilly Easter Monday we took part in our first Harness Horse Parade at the Ardingly Showground.  Our Dales pony Coke pulled our Fenix disabled driving carriage, driven by our driving coach Steve Dale, and accompanied by Sally O’Neill.  Steve had spent all day Saturday grooming Coke and cleaning the carriage until they shone like new pins, and his hard work was rewarded when we were awarded three rosettes and a First Class Award for the best Newcomer.  We were all absolutely thrilled, a really fantastic result! Our thanks are due to all the volunteers who turned out to offer help and support.

A very successful day at Lingfield Park

April 15, 2017 at 11:20 am

Our bucket collection at Lingfield Park on Good Friday, 14th April, was a great success as the kind racegoers emptied their pockets of £1335!

Dame Judi came along with her family, and was interviewed with Sally O’Neill, for both ITV television and the Racecourse PA system.  Sally presented a prize to a winning trainer, and our volunteers paraded in the ring with the silks placards for several races.  So not only a financial success but great publicity for us as well.

We are very grateful to Lingfield Park Racecourse for giving us this opportunity to fund raise, and also to all the volunteers who turned up on the day to help.

Grand Opening of the Chamfron Building

June 25, 2016 at 2:36 pm

Harlequine-87aOn Thursday 26th May, a lovely sunny day, we held an open day to celebrate the opening of our new stable building, attached to the end of the indoor school at Little Brook Equestrian.  The building was donated by Caroline Clarry, pictured above cutting the ribbon with our patron Dame Judi Dench.  Mrs Clarry is a member of the President’s Club of RDA National and has asked us to name the building the Chamfron Building after the stud belonging to a great friend who recently died.

Various donors had contributed to the cost of putting the building up, and were invited to the opening, along with the Mayor and Mayoress of East Grinstead. Dame Judi brought her daughter Finty Williams with her and a number of our other supporters were also invited.

Some of our visually impaired riders from St Stephen’s School gave a demonstration lesson before presenting bouquets to Dame Judi and Mrs Clarry.  After the official opening ceremony, a buffet lunch was served inside the new building, which was much admired by all.

In the evening we held a party for our volunteer helpers and their partners, with about 50 attendees, a most enjoyable evening.
